Honister Slate Mine, the Last Working Slate Mine in England, is seeking a dedicated Sales Assistant to join our family-run business.

Located in the picturesque Borrowdale Valley in Cumbria, our company has gained a strong reputation within the stone industry.

We are committed to delivering exceptional customer service and are currently recruiting for a Sales Assistant to join our slate department.

As a Sales Assistant your primary responsibility will be to provide outstanding customer service and support to our clients. You will guide them through the entire buying process, starting from their initial inquiry and continuing with advice on slate aftercare once the product is delivered. We value a consultative approach, ensuring that our customers receive the guidance they need at every stage.

Your duties will include:

  • Delivering a consistently high level of customer service throughout the sales journey.
  • Identifying and understanding customers' needs and requirements, while also presenting additional sales opportunities.
  • Cultivating strong client relationships by overseeing the entire sales process, from initial inquiry to order placement and delivery coordination.
  • Offering product knowledge and technical advice to assist customers in making informed decisions.
  • Collaborating effectively with a fast-paced and close-knit team.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards in all aspects of your work.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in IT, English, and mathematics.
  • Handling administrative responsibilities such as answering customer calls, confirming orders, responding to email inquiries, processing payments, arranging sample dispatches, following up on sales leads, and providing aftercare service.
  • Coordinating with the Director and other sales team members to keep customers informed about the status of their orders.

Experience:

Previous experience in the stone industry is not required, as we will provide comprehensive training to familiarize you with our product range.

However, having a creative flair and an eye for detail would be advantageous.

We are seeking individuals who thrive in a sales and customer-focused environment and take pride in delivering the highest level of service to secure successful deals.

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, driven by sales targets, adept at prioritizing tasks, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate strong organizational abilities, and have a solid grasp of basic mathematics.
