Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to fulfil dietetic opportunities under a long-term placement contract. The post holder will have knowledge/experience in critical care and experience of complex nutrition support practices, including enteral nutrition. They must be able to demonstrate initiative and prioritise a complex workload whilst working both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a team.
High levels of both written and oral communication are essential to this post with the ability to deliver or discuss difficult diagnosis and prognosis with tact, empathy, managing distressed or aggressive patients or carers/relatives. The post holder must be able to communicate accurate and sensitive information to patients, carers, and relatives as well as within their own team & colleagues.
Role Details:
· Cover of a critical care caseload
· Assessing complex nutritional patients
· Liaising with appropriate MDT members
· Cover of acute hospital wards
· Provide evidence-based specialist dietetic assessment, management, and treatment of patients within the framework of clinical governance
· Plan and organise on-going dietetic services in the relevant specialities
· Work flexibly and adapt to meet the changing needs of the service
· Responsible for maintaining own competency and self-development
The Successful Candidate Will:
· Be HCPC registered
· BSc or equivalent degree in Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
· Have Significant clinical experience of working within an acute hospital setting within the NHS
· Knowledge and experience of enteral and parenteral nutrition
· Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines
